SUMMARY:Kayaking Day on the Neversink Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Rondout Neversink Stream Prpgram is partnering with Neversink Parks and Rec. Dept. to offer our first annual Neversink Reservoir Kayaking Day on Sunday\, July 25 from 9am-4pm. This event is open (and free!) to residents of the Town of Neversink and to resdents of Tri-Valley School District.\nThe event is limited to 15 participants\, reserve your spot today as this event may fill up fast. Email Cher Woehl at cwparksandrec@gmail.com to request your registration form. Registration requests are due by Friday\, July 16. Submit your registration forms by July 21. \nDuring the morning of the event\, paddling lessons will be taught by water safety expert\, Janet Carey. In the afternoon\, RNSP’s Watershed Planning Coordinator\, Haley Springston\, will lead an educational kayaking tour of the Neversink Reservoir.\nPLEASE NOTE PARTICIPANTS MUST:\n\nbe 18 years or older\nrequest a registration form by 7/16\nsubmit registration form by 7/21\nadhere to all safety measures (must follow current CDC safety guidelines)\nuse the kayaks provided (no personal kayaks will be permitted)\nattend the kayaking lesson held prior to the tour\nif sharing a tandem kayak\, MUST be members of the same household\n\nIf you have any questions about the event\, please contact  Haley Springston\, at hspringston@rondoutneversink.org or call RNSP’s office at (845) 985-2581.\nIf the event sells out\, please contact Cher Woehl at cwparksandrec@gmail.com and she will add you to a waiting list.

DESCRIPTION:The Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program is pleased to announce the return of one of its most popular summer activities:  stream snorkeling! Discover the underwater world of streams by joining us for a fun filled morning of stream snorkeling in the Esopus Creek. This free program was created with families in mind. Participants must be at least 8 years old and those under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult (the adult does not have to snorkel). This event will be held at the Emerson Resort and Spa in Mount Tremper\, New York. All equipment and supplies will be provided. Please bring a towel and wear swim clothes and old sneakers or closed-toed water shoes (no bare feet please). \nThis program is designed for people that live in the Ashokan Watershed. The Ashokan Watershed includes the Towns of Hurley\, Olive\, Woodstock\, and Shandaken in Ulster County and the Towns of Lexington and Hunter in Greene County. \nSpace is limited to 15 participants so sign up now as this event may fill up quickly. \nCOVID-19 Safety Precautions will be followed\, including wearing masks and social distancing where needed. Snorkeling equipment will be thoroughly disinfected prior to the event and after it is completed. \nThere will be two separate sessions\, with one being held on Friday\, July 9 and the other being held on Friday\, July 16. RNSP’s Watershed Planning Coordinator\, Haley Springston\, will lead viewers on a virtual geology hike along a Catskill stream\, review the effects of geologic history on present-day streams\, and answer questions from the audience.\n\nParticipants will learn how the Catskill landscape formed nearly 380 million years ago\, how the geologic history of Catskill streams still affects our lives today\, and how the Rondout Neversink Stream Program serves our local streams and communities.\n\nThe event is free. SUMMARY:Streamside Photography Walk at the Windham Path
DESCRIPTION:Registrations are required by Thursday\, October 1\, 2020. This event is limited to 10 participants. There will be no on-site registrations. \nRegister here: https://www.gcswcd.com/calendar/education/streamside-photography-walk-at-the-windham-path-fall-2020 \n  \nJoin us for a guided photography walk with Francis X. Driscoll on the Windham Path. Fran will show how he has gotten some of his award-winning shots through demonstrations on camera settings\, composition\, exposure\, depth of field\, etc. There will be an emphasis on enjoying and capturing the beauty of the area. All camera types\, including cell phones and tablets\, are welcome. \nThis is an outdoor photography walk that involves walking on an easy loop trail for approximately 1.5 miles. Attendees should dress for the weather\, wear appropriate footwear\, and bring a filled water bottle and snacks as needed. \nParticipants at this event must follow current health guidelines for COVID-19. Participants must maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet from individuals from different households. Masks or face coverings that cover the nose and mouth will be required for all participants whenever the group is stopped for discussion as well as whenever social distancing cannot be maintained. Participants must bring their own cameras. There will be no sharing of equipment or other materials between individuals from different households. \nIn the event of rain or other inclement weather\, this photography walk will be postponed until Sunday\, October 4\, 2020.
